To offer world-class Technology and Management education through an appropriate blend of pedagogical inputs, research and development, innovation, global networking, and social values.
To create a leading Technology University in Asia catering to the global educational needs.
The Asian Institute of Management and Technology (AITM) is one among the two educational institutions that EDULINK is currently setting up in the historic and serene city of Mysore in India . Of course, AITM derives much of its institution building capabilities from the experience of having set up the Middle East College of Information Technology (MECIT) located within the Knowledge Oasis Muscat , the state-of-the-art technology park in the Sultanate of Oman. MECIT is part of the same corporate group, and is a leading technology institution in the Gulf region, offering thirteen streams of Bachelor programs in IT, Electronics and Design, in collaboration with the Coventry University in the United Kingdom . From September 2007, MECIT will also offer an MBA (IT) program and a few undergraduate programs in Business.
Why India ?
India is very much a part and parcel of the global knowledge-based economy, in all possible ways – as a production centre, as a research centre, and as a place where a large number of qualified knowledge workers are produced through a robust educational infrastructure created over a century. This strong legacy has its advantage as well as disadvantage. The advantage has been its readiness to provide absolute knowledge and skills to catch up with the challenges in a global economy, and in the information era. The disadvantage, perhaps, is the academic rigidities derived from the past wherein integrating with the trends in the rest of the world is still a challenge. This challenge, if addressed appropriately, could turn India into a very attractive global destination for higher education, not only in science and technology but also in art and literature. Its rich heritage and culture, a growing economy, and the enormous human capital makes it just the right place for a world class institution of higher learning.
The Edulink group, while proposing to set up AITM in India , has the clear vision of capitalising on the aforesaid cumulative advantage of the past, but with the utmost determination to address the new challenges. The thrust will be on both soft and hard skills whereby AITM's products are readily acceptable in the international job market.
The AITM advantage:
AITM comes with the strength of a global networking in academia. While complying with the law of the land with regard to higher education, AITM has the inherent strength to derive best practices from the world over. Its promoters come with rich academic background having earned their degrees from certain top ranking universities. These put together will enable AITM to be highly futuristic in their academic programs and their delivery mechanisms.
Certainly, AITM will not be yet another technology or management college. Its vision is to create a world-class technology and management institution in less than a decade.
25 acres of suitable land has been identified. A project office has been set up at Bangalore . All procedures for setting up the institution are being taken with a target of July 2009 as the month for the first intake of students into our bachelor programs.
